Lake-Como , previously known as South Belmar, is located between the towns of Spring Lake and Belmar in Monmouth County along the New Jersey Shore. This small town of less than 2000 has no oceanfront real estate but does have waterfront homes along Lake Como, for which the town is named. Lake Como is a quiet town, with a Main Street lined with shops and businesses. Main Street leads north to the town of Belmar and south to Spring Lake. The town of Belmar is one of the most active towns on the Jersey Shore. It boasts a large public marina and a multitude of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, along with a variety of bed and breakfast inns and hotels. Belmar is renowned for its' fishing and is host to several special events throughout the year, such as a Spring and Fall Kite Festival and the New Jersey Seafood Festival. Lake Como's neighbor to the south, Spring Lake, has been known as a unique resort town on the Jersey Coast for more than 100 years. The town offers more than 60 specialty shops and boutiques, fine restaurants and a picturesque (non-commercial) boardwalk that is great for strolling and relaxing. There are four beaches in the area, and activities range from swimming, snorkeling, water-skiing, surfing, boating and fishing to golf, tennis, biking and horseback riding. For an unhurried atmosphere and small town ambience, Lake Como is ideal.

Lake Como Weather & Climate

Northwestern New Jersey has mountains and highlands that play a significant role in the weather. Summer thunderstorms from Pennsylvania and New York often move into this region, which has about twice as many thunderstorms as the coastal zone of New Jersey. The Northern climate zone also has the shortest growing season - about 155 days. The classification for north-northwestern New Jersey is humid continental and has slightly cooler temperatures due to the elevation. Average temperatures in winter are usually just below freezing. Spring and autumn may feature wide temperature variations, with lower humidity than summer. Snowfall varies year to year, but is about 40-50 inches in the northwestern highlands.
