Beach-Haven-Crest
is a small community located between Brighton Beach and Brant Beach on Long Beach Island, an 18-mile long barrier island off the coast of New Jersey. The beaches of Beach Haven Crest have lifeguards on patrol from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from June 21 through Labor Day. The southern beaches are wider and smoother, while the northern beaches are narrow. Bayside beaches are located in Brant Beach and in Beach Haven Terrace. Beach badges are required for all persons age 12 through 64 on Long Beach Township beaches from mid-June through Labor Day. Daily and weekly badges may be purchased on the beach. You can also purchases badges from the James J. Mancini Municipal Building. Long Beach Island is a popular summer resort destination for people from nearby cities and all across the country. Attractions include the much-photographed Barnegat Lighthouse, which is located on the quiet northern end of the island. The community of Beach Haven accounts for about two-thirds of the beach area on the island and is generally the busiest and most well-known destination on Long Beach Island. Recreational activities are endless on the island. On the ocean side is swimming, sunning, sandcastle building, and surfing, while on the Bay side is crabbing, fishing and sailboarding. The Fantasy Island Amusement Park and Thundering Surf Water Park, the island's only amusement park, is also located in Beach Haven. During July and August, the Alliance for a Living Ocean runs three-hour eco-tours of the island and the local Chamber of Commerce sponsors an annual chowder cook-off in the fall.

East-central New Jersey , along the coast, has a humid subtropical climate with maritime influences. Continental and oceanic influences battle for dominance in the weather patterns on a daily to weekly bases. The coastal zone generally has warmer temperatures than the interior regions in winter. Sea breezes play a major role in the climate, and offer a cooling effect on hot summer days. Coastal storms, often characterized as nor'easters, are most frequent between October and April. These storms bring strong winds and heavy rains. Rarely does a winter go by without at least one significant coastal storm. Tropical storms and hurricanes are also a special concern along the coast, although plenty of warning is given for these types of storms.
