Villas is a neighborhood, or census-designated place, located within Lower Township in Cape May County, New Jersey. As of the 2010 census, the population was 9,483. It is also referred to as "The Villas." Lower Township is surrounded by North Cape May and Victorian Cape May to the south, the Wildwoods to the east and Stone Harbor to the north. New Jersey Monthly Magazine ranked Lower township as the "34th best place to live in New Jersey" in 2008. The Villas is also right next to the Cape May County Park South. Things to do at Villas include visiting Victorian Cape May, called the country's "Oldest Seashore Resort." It's located on the southernmost tip of the peninsula and contains over 600 restored and preserved Victorian structures. Other attractions in the area include the Cape May Lighthouse, Historic Cold Spring Village, the annual Tulip Festival each spring, and Victorian Week in Cape May, which begins after Thanksgiving each year. The Wildwoods, which consist of Wildwood, North Wildwood, West Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and Diamond Beach, is known for their two-mile long Boardwalk that is a premier Jersey Shore attraction. Things to do include boat trips and weekly fireworks (Sundays at 11:00 p.m.) and other family-themed events. Recreational activities include swimming, sailing, fishing, water skiing and surfing, parasailing and windsurfing.

Villas Weather & Climate

The southeastern tip of New Jersey , near Cape May, has a humid subtropical climate with maritime influences. Continental and oceanic influences battle for dominance in the weather patterns on a daily to weekly bases. The coastal zone generally has warmer temperatures than the interior regions in winter. Sea breezes play a major role in the climate, and offer a cooling effect on hot summer days. Coastal storms, often characterized as nor'easters, are most frequent between October and April. These storms bring strong winds and heavy rains. Rarely does a winter go by without at least one significant coastal storm. Tropical storms and hurricanes are also a special concern along the coast, although plenty of warning is given for these types of storms.
