West-Wildwood
is located in Cape May County on a barrier island off the southern coast of New Jersey. It is one of the five communities that are collectively known as "The Wildwoods." The others are Diamond Beach, Wildwood, North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest. West Wildwood has a permanent population of 448 residents. For generations, "The Wildwoods" has been a family resort destination, known for their world-famous, two-mile long Boardwalk that is a premier Jersey Shore attraction. There are five huge piers along the Boardwalk that feature thrill rides, arcade games, shops, restaurants and entertainment. Three water parks at located at Wildwood, along with miniature golf, water sports, boat trips, nightlife, beachside entertainment, including weekly fireworks (Sundays at 11:00 p.m.) and other family-themed events. It's non-stop fun for everyone at the Wildwoods. Outdoor sports include swimming, sailing, boating, fishing, water skiing and surfing, parasailing and windsurfing. Other area attractions include the historic Hereford Inlet Lighthouse and Cottage Gardens in North Wildwood and the Cape May Lighthouse and Historic Cold Spring Village. Nearby Victorian Cape May City is the country's "Oldest Seashore Resort" and a National Historic Landmark City with over 600 authentically restored Victorian era homes and buildings.

The southeastern tip of New Jersey , near Cape May, has a humid subtropical climate with maritime influences. Continental and oceanic influences battle for dominance in the weather patterns on a daily to weekly bases. The coastal zone generally has warmer temperatures than the interior regions in winter. Sea breezes play a major role in the climate, and offer a cooling effect on hot summer days. Coastal storms, often characterized as nor'easters, are most frequent between October and April. These storms bring strong winds and heavy rains. Rarely does a winter go by without at least one significant coastal storm. Tropical storms and hurricanes are also a special concern along the coast, although plenty of warning is given for these types of storms.
