Harvey-Cedars is one of the small boroughs of Long Beach Island, nestled between the Long Beach Township communities of North Beach and Loveladies. It's a lovely, quiet summer resort community, located just 40 minutes from Atlantic City and two hours from New York City. Long Beach Island has been a premier family vacation destination for generations. Its' beautiful white sand beaches have been ranked in the top five "Best Beaches in the USA Poll," by National Geographic Traveler Magazine. The little community of Harvey Cedars has quite a history of survival - having been almost completely destroyed by two major hurricanes - once in 1944 and again in March, 1962, when a powerful system of two storms stalled over the Atlantic Ocean, gaining the reputation as The Storm of the Century. Today, Harvey Cedars offers both ocean and bayside swimming and sunbathing and is home to some of the Jersey shore's best surfing beaches. Other Long Beach Island attractions include an amusement park, located in Beach Haven, and the picturesque Barnegat Lighthouse, located on the northern tip of the island (New Jersey's second tallest lighthouse.) Aside from a multitude of recreational activities, Long Beach Island is home to hundreds of quaint shops and boutiques, fine dining, art galleries and museums.

Harvey Cedars Weather & Climate

East-central New Jersey , along the coast, has a humid subtropical climate with maritime influences. Continental and oceanic influences battle for dominance in the weather patterns on a daily to weekly bases. The coastal zone generally has warmer temperatures than the interior regions in winter. Sea breezes play a major role in the climate, and offer a cooling effect on hot summer days. Coastal storms, often characterized as nor'easters, are most frequent between October and April. These storms bring strong winds and heavy rains. Rarely does a winter go by without at least one significant coastal storm. Tropical storms and hurricanes are also a special concern along the coast, although plenty of warning is given for these types of storms.
