High-Bar-Harbor is a community, or neighborhood, on Long Beach Island, a popular summer resort barrier island located off the coast of New Jersey. High Bar Harbor is located within the northwestern-most portion of Long Beach Township (which is another community on the island) west of Barnegat Light. The neighborhood of High Bar Harbor consists mainly of about 400 homes developed in the mid-1950s along the island lagoons. The neighborhood is surrounded by water on three sides, but the area has no beaches of its own. However, it's a popular area with boaters because it has a network of canals leading to Barnegat Bay. The majority of residents are only part-time during the summer season, although there are a few year-round residents. As a community of Long Beach Island, High Bar Harbor offers a multitude of attractions and recreational activities. Things to do include swimming, surfing, beachcombing, crabbing, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, jet skiing, wind surfing and more. The island community of Beach Haven is where you'll find most of the shops, boutiques, galleries, restaurants and nightclubs. The Fantasy Island Amusement Park and Thundering Surf Water Park, the island's only amusement park, is also located in Beach Haven.

High Bar Harbor Weather & Climate

East-central New Jersey , along the coast, has a humid subtropical climate with maritime influences. Continental and oceanic influences battle for dominance in the weather patterns on a daily to weekly bases. The coastal zone generally has warmer temperatures than the interior regions in winter. Sea breezes play a major role in the climate, and offer a cooling effect on hot summer days. Coastal storms, often characterized as nor'easters, are most frequent between October and April. These storms bring strong winds and heavy rains. Rarely does a winter go by without at least one significant coastal storm. Tropical storms and hurricanes are also a special concern along the coast, although plenty of warning is given for these types of storms.
