North-Wildwood
is one of the communities known as "The Wildwoods," located along the southern New Jersey coast on what is known as "Five Mile Beach." North Wildwood covers an area of 1.8 square miles in Cape May County and is about 30 miles south of Atlantic City and ten miles north of Victorian Cape May City. It shares the beach with the City of Wildwood, the Boroughs of West Wildwood and Wildwood Crest and a portion of Lower Township. North Wildwood is where you'll find the very historic and picturesque Hereford Inlet Lighthouse; a Swiss Gothic Style Lighthouse constructed in 1874. This lighthouse still shines its' beacon 14 nautical miles out to sea and is the site of a nautical museum and special events throughout the year. Also on site are the lighthouse "Gardens" - a beautiful English style "cottage" garden that features arbors, fences, birdbaths and old-fashioned favorites such as Hollyhocks, Nasturtiums and Snapdragons. The Wildwoods offers a wide variety of activities - thrill rides, beach activities and water sports, boat rides and boat rentals, three water parks, miniature golf, nightlife, fine dining and shopping. The world famous two-mile long Wildwood Boardwalk holds five piers full of rides, amusements, games, stores and restaurants - non-stop fun for everyone in the family. The Boardwalk also hosts weekly fireworks and other special events. A side trip to Cape May is well worth the time - just minutes from North Wildwood, this Victorian era city is the nation's "Oldest Seashore Resort" and is a National Historic Landmark City.

The southeastern tip of New Jersey , near Cape May, has a humid subtropical climate with maritime influences. Continental and oceanic influences battle for dominance in the weather patterns on a daily to weekly bases. The coastal zone generally has warmer temperatures than the interior regions in winter. Sea breezes play a major role in the climate, and offer a cooling effect on hot summer days. Coastal storms, often characterized as nor'easters, are most frequent between October and April. These storms bring strong winds and heavy rains. Rarely does a winter go by without at least one significant coastal storm. Tropical storms and hurricanes are also a special concern along the coast, although plenty of warning is given for these types of storms.
